Detox Face Mask

If you struggle with blackheads and sometimes feel like your face needs a little bit of an extra deep clean - give this a try!

I've been playing around with the ratios a bit and found this worked well - feel free to use this as a base to explore and play around to see what works best for you.

I've been using warm water to create the mask but I think adding some coconut oil could work nicely too.. I would use fractionated coconut oil (been treated so that it remains liquid at all times). I find MCT is the best version I can find here in SA.

You could either apply to your whole face like I did or just apply to targeted areas such as nose and chin. Up to you.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/8 cup (30ml) part Activated charcoal powder

  • 3/8 cup (90ml) parts Bentonite clay

- I would start with 1 part activated charcoal and 3 parts bentonite clay

- I used Nature's Choice which I found at Dis Chem

- you can make as much as you want but I prefer smaller quantities incase I want to tweak things after a while

  • Glass container for storage (I used an old herb dispenser from Woolies #reuse #repurpose

  • Brush for application if you have one - if not just use your fingers

HOW TO USE

  • Mix 1 teaspoon with some warm water / coconut oil until it forms a thin paste

  • Apply thin layer to clean face avoiding eye area

  • Leave on for 10 - 15 minutes

  • Repeat 2 times a week

  • Optional: I mixed in 2 drops of doTERRA's Frankincense at the end just before applying to my face

  • Tip: I applied this before my shower so that I could rinse it off in the shower. Rinsing off at a basin can get a little messy

  • Ps. If your face is a bit red after that's normal due to the detox

If you give this a try let me know what you think!
